Step One: Creating A Sim
Basics:
Create a Young Adult in CAS. You can customize their looks and favorites however you want. However, the Sim cannot be wearing any accessories or makeup. Their voice and favorites are also up to you.
Traits:
The five traits of your Sim are up to you, however you may not have the Kleptomaniac, Lucky, or Heavy Sleeper traits. Tip - Having the trait Loves The Outdoors will give your Sim a mood boost whenever they're wandering the streets.
Lifetime Wish:
Take a look at the five options for a LTW. You can't choose any career related wish. If there is more than one option that is not career-related, you can choose which one you want.
Step Two: Purchasing A Lot
Choosing Lot:
Move your Sim into whatever lot you would like. It doesn't matter. However, it must be a blank lot with no house or anything built on it.
Decorating Lot:
In Build Mode, you are allowed to use the following however you like: Trees, Shrubs, Flowers, Rocks, Terrain Paint, Ponds, and Terrain Tools. In Build Mode, you are allowed to purchase one "Community Bench". This is found in the Misc. category of Comfort. You are also allowed to purchase anything in the Plants category of Buy Mode.
Step Three: Being Homeless
Starting Up:
When you are done building, you must reduce your Sim's funds to $35. You can do this by typing in this cheat: familyfunds familyname 35
Earning Money:
No one wants to hire a filthy Sim! You cannot get a full-time or part-time job. You are limited to the ways you can earn money. You can collect and sell gems, bugs, space rocks, and other collectables. You can sell fish you catch or food you harvest. However, you cannot sell anything that you put on your lot in Step Two.
Spending Money:
You are only allowed to purchase things you can store in your inventory, like a guitar or fire pit for example. You cannot purchase chairs for the fire pit if you choose to buy one.
Eating:
You are only allowed to eat fish or harvestables (whatever is in your Sim's inventory). You can only eat your fish if it is cooked, so you can use a stove in someone's house (or on a community lot if you can find one) to cook it. You can also mooch food off another Sim. Your Sim can't eat in any restaurants, because you are not wanted there. Tip - Head over to Stoney Falls. There are bugs, rocks, and plants; perfect for the homeless Sim. :]
Gardening:
If you find a seed, you may plant it on your home lot. However, you may only plant seeds - you cannot plant a food (even though the game lets you).
Marrying/Moving In Sims:
You cannot marry or move in any Sims until you have completed the challenge. However, you can have a baby to make the challenge even harder.
Paying Bills:
Every few days a bill will appear in your mailbox. You are required to pay these bills, but they won't be very much money.
Hygiene:
You are welcome to take a bath or shower at someone's house - but this may get you kicked out. A better option is to have a shower at a community lot. Tip - the 28 Hour Wellness Gym has some bathroom facilities! If all else fails, your Sim can just wash their hands many many times.
Lifetime Rewards:
You can purchase any Lifetime Rewards you want, but you will only get points for the Lifetime Happiness points you haven't spent at the end. Tip - don't buy the Discount Diner, Office Hero, Vacationer, or Professional Slacker rewards, because you won't be allowed to use them (until the challenge is completed).
Step Four: Completing The Challenge
If you have used any money cheats after Step Two, you are disqualified. You have completed the challenge when you have $20,000. You must have all the money in your Sim's funds at one time; when you do this the challenge is over. If you would like to continue to play that Sim through their lifetime, all the restrictions are removed and you can then use anything in build or buy mode. If you want, you can also use this scoring:

- +1 per skill point you have.
